Saturday showcased another round of talented high school track & field competitors taking part in indoor action which included Wayne High and Wakefield.

Back at the Wildcat Dome on the campus of WSC, the Wayne State College Invite Class I showcased another nine teams including one more Iowa program. They included Gehlen Catholic (IA), Boone Central, Columbus Lakeview, Columbus Scotus, Hartington-Newcastle, O’Neill, Osmond, Wakefield and Wayne.

Both Wayne and Wakefield girls and boys were among the Nebraska programs in action again with no team scoring during the indoor competition.

In the girls division, Wayne first place results were the 4×400 relay in 4:21.8 from junior Nyla Bolles, freshman Alivia Kesting, freshman Kamden Dobbins and junior Elle Powicki; Powicki also won the 60-meter hurdles in 9.6 seconds as Kesting won the 800-meter run (2:32.6).

Sophomore Addison Frank placed second in the pole vault (8′ 6″) followed by Bolles in third (8′).

Junior Lilyan Hurner posted a runner-up time in the 3200-meter run (13:52.54) and fourth during the 1600-meter run (6:18.37). Dobbins placed fourth in the 400-meter run (1:08.72).

For the Wayne boys, event champions came from the 4×800 relay in 8:53.47 from junior Drew Miller, sophomore Thomas Raymundo, sophomore Emmanuel Gonzalez and senior Kasen York; Miller won the 3200-meter run (10:55.55) as junior Grant Maas won the pole vault (12′ 6″).

York took runner-up during the 800-meter run (2:15.29); sophomore Alvaro Archundia placed third in the 1600-meter run (5:24.43); Raymundo was fourth in the 3200-meter run (11:40.62) followed by Gonzalez in fifth (11:42.35); sophomore Cole Zach added a fourth place mark in the high jump (5′ 6″) as freshman Angel Vargas took fifth in long jump (19′ 1″).

Sixth place finishes came from freshman Vargas in the 60-meter hurdles (9.07) and junior Boden Dobbins during the 400-meter run (56.14).
